The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a piece of legislation that’s recently come into play, and we want to make sure you’ve got all the information you need to feel safe about your data and privacy.
Since May 25th 2018 the rules regulating what data we hold on our users and what we can and can’t do with it have become stricter. Additionally, users now have more control over their data thanks to a number of new rights that you have. Although the GDPR is in place to protect users based in the EU.
Some of the new rights users now have include:
Right of access: you can now request that we send you over a copy of all the data that we hold on you. Upon your request, we have 30 days to send this back to you.
Right of rectification: if the data we hold on you is incorrect, you can request that we rectify this. Again, we have a 30 day turnaround time in which to do this.
Right to Erasure: aka the Right to be Forgotten. You can request that we delete all the personal data we hold on you. As above, we’ve got 30 days to complete this.
Right to data portability: you can now receive your personal data in a format that will allow you to transfer this to another service.
Right to object: you can now object to direct marketing and data processing.
In order to request any of the above, please be sure to email us from the email address associated with your MoM account. It’s also worth noting that these rights do have exceptions, and that there are cases in which we can deny a request if we have a legitimate interest in doing so. Just reach out to our support team if you want more information on this side of things.
The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK have a handy guide on their website if you want to read more.
We really care about your privacy and we want to make sure you feel comfortable with your data, so please reach out if you have any lingering questions or doubts.
